Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash on the A28 at Kempe’s Corner yesterday. A blue Proton and a light blue mini collided at the junction of Harville Road and the Canterbury Road at about 12.40 Wednesday 22nd June. Kent Police reports that ambulances took a man and a women to the William Harvey Hospital, and the man suffered serious injuries. If you saw this crash, or have dashcam footage that could help please call the Kent Police Serious Collision Unit 01622 798538 and quote reference RY/DC/64/22. Or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk.

Kent Police closed a section the Canterbury Road to enable officers to investigate the scene, and this diverted all the A28 traffic onto the minor roads for several miles around Wye. The disruption lasted for several hours. CrashMap data records a total of 23 collisions at the Kempe’s Corner junction since 1999. However since KCC Highways limited the A28 to 40 MPH and improved the sightlines at the crossroads, these highway safety measures have reduced the frequency of serious crashes at this blackspot.
