Fourth-year student Amelia Townsend was selected to give an oral presentation at a national conference in London hosted by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Speaking at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) Liaison Faculty Annual Conference, Amelia presented her research project titled ‘A systematic review of studies of attitudes and beliefs of healthcare professionals towards non-epileptic attack disorder (NEAD) in adults’ to an audience of psychiatrists and mental health professionals from across the country.

The three-day programme took place in May and was themed ‘Liaison Psychiatry: Adapting to the Future of Healthcare’ and included talks from Presidents of the RCPsych and Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM).

Amelia, alongside three others, presented her work in the new/early career research presentation section of the conference. She said: “I am so grateful to have been selected to present at a national conference. The RCPsych were very welcoming and the whole experience was really positive.”

In addition to this, Amelia will be presenting her project as a poster at the RCPsych International Congress this month, hosted in Edinburgh. She added: “I am really looking forward to attending the RCPsych International Conference to display my poster with a lot more confidence!”
