Easter fun at the museums!

1. Take part in Professor Yaffle’s Egg Hunt!

Part of the Mischief at The Museum: 50 Years of Bagpuss family trail. You can find Professor Yaffle and other Smallfilms characters including; The Clangers and Noggin the Nog! They are all really over excited and are raiding the museum for presents for Bagpuss, they know Bagpuss loves old interesting things…

Explore the museum, solve the puzzles, help us round up the party guests and celebrate 50 years of Canterbury’s most famous cat!  

For an accessible way to take part in Mischief at the Museum: 50 Years of Bagpuss, borrow a SEND Family Backpack and upgrade it with sensory Smallfilms resources, a Mischief at the Museum Symbol trail, a participation prize and competition entry.

Trails and SEND family backpacks are available from the information desks at The Beaney.

2. Visit the Living With Art exhibition

Living With Art: An extraordinary collection from an ordinary home includes original prints, paintings, sculptures and multiples along with other curious objects and items that have transformed Millbank’s ordinary home in Kent into an extraordinary treasure trove.

Over 38 years his collection would grow to include works by household names such as Banksy, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry, Paul Nash, Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland, William Scott, Victor Pasmore, Eduardo Paolozzi and many others. 

To add to the depth and diversity of the exhibition’s narrative, the interpretation has been developed collaboratively between Christopher Millbank and The Beaney as well as local school children, young people and community groups. Together these different reflections will respond to the artworks on display whilst considering what it means to live with art.

Free admission, £3 suggested donation.

3. Enjoy Sensory Storytelling with Music

Part of the Joyful Rebellion exhibition, immerse yourself in stories through music, touch, sound and smell. Be ready for an experience full of wonder and beauty that takes you to another place.

4. Find our Family activities at The Beaney

You can find fun in every gallery at The Beaney! Play Portraits in the People and Places gallery, become an artist with the easel in the Garden Room, find the dolls house in the Materials and Masters gallery and discover our unique kaleidoscopes around the museum!

5.Visit Canterbury Roman Museum (Kids Go Free!*)

This Easter kids go free at Canterbury Roman Museum! From Good Friday 29 March to Sunday 14 April. The musuem is open on Mondays too!

*Two kids go free per paying adult.

6. Make your own miniature mosaic

Recreate your very own piece of Roman history in Canterbury this Easter with this new activity! Explore the museum and get the chance to make your own miniature mosaic. Kits contain 100+ mosaic stone tiles, base, instructions and a mosaic fact sheet. A fun family activity for the Easter holiday and an impressive project to take back to school.
