The Society held its Annual Spring Show on Saturday 1st April, with many visitors coming in to enjoy the fragrant display of spring flowers which brightened the hall. It was encouraging to see an increase in the number of exhibits, particularly in the cut flower classes, although it was disappointing that many of the narcissus bulbs for the Chairman’s Challenge had failed to come through.

President of the Society, John Hill, presented Linda and Peter Ellis with the Barbara Robbins Memorial Cup for most points in the cut flower classes, as well as the cups for Best Pot Plant and Best Bloom. Brenda Wood won the Whitten Spencer Cup for her pot of Narcissus Canaliculatus, one of few successful ones to bloom, whilst Rajini Dasan was successful in winning all three open classes and the trophy for “Best Photograph in Show”.

Judges were Peter Aplin and John Newell (photography and cookery).

Thank you to everyone who entered exhibits, to those who helped with the organisation on the day and to all who came to enjoy and support the event.
