ALDI PREDICTS SURGE IN SNACK AND BEER SALES IN LEAD UP TO ENGLAND’S QUARTER-FINAL SHOWDOWN

  • Supermarket on course to sell 5 million packs of crisps and snacks, almost 1 million dips and 2.5 million pizzas ahead of England’s quarter-final against Switzerland, 6th July, 5pm
  • Almost 800,000 cans of own-label lager and 2 million bottles of wine are expected to fly off shelves as fans prep for viewing parties across the country

With football fever striking the country ahead of England’s quarter-final game against Switzerland, 6th July, 5pm, Aldi has football fans across the country covered.

The supermarket predicts to sell 5 million packs of crisps and snacks between now and the game. And shoppers can score much better prices with Aldi than its high street competitors, such as the Snackrite Tangy Cheese Deltas,available for less than half the price of Doritos!

The supermarket also expects to sell 2.5 million pizzas and 1.5 million packs of coated chicken as shoppers opt for finger foods as they watch the quarter-finals this weekend.

Aldi has a lineup of delicious pizzas available such as the Carlos Stuffed Crust Pizza Double Pepperoni (£3.79, 691g) which is almost £20 cheaper than a pepperoni pizza from Domino’s! Plus, it is ready to eat in half the time it takes to wait for a delivery.

And drinks are expected to flow; Aldi predicts it will sell almost 800,000 individual cans of its own-label lager in the build up to the game – that’s 186 cans a minute – and enough cans to equal the length of 1,304 football pitches![i]

The supermarket also expects a whopping 2 million bottles of vino to fly off shelves.
