The Government has funded Locality to develop guidance to be used by neighbourhood planning groups, including town and parish councils, who want to prepare a design code to include in their neighbourhood plan.

The guidance explains what a design code is and what it is for as well as providing guidance about whether a design code is the appropriate tool for the neighbourhood planning groups and how it could support their neighbourhood plan priorities.

It also includes templates to help neighbourhood planning groups prepare a design code.

The guidance can be viewed here.
