Stile Free Routes: What are they?

Our stile-free routes are appropriate for a variety of users, including families with young children and people using mobility scooters.

To give you a clear idea of what to anticipate, Explore Kent aims to provide thorough information about our routes. Please be aware that because our stile-free routes are in the countryside, bad weather conditions can have a negative impact on the path surfaces. Wheelchairs with wider wheels may be better suited for some routes because they can navigate the terrain more easily than other wheelchairs. We advise you to read up on the trails and evaluate them if you are sure you can finish them on your own.

Find routes with rest areas, changing rooms, and disabled restrooms conveniently positioned along the trail. Read more below to find the route that best meets your needs.

Gates and Keys for Radar:

In the UK, Radar Keys provide easy access to disabled restrooms. Finding clean, accessible, and free disabled toilets was widely acknowledged to be a significant challenge prior to the development of these keys, primarily because of public misuse. You can access over 9, 000 disabled public restrooms across the country by purchasing keys directly from Disability Rights UK, and you can also support the charity’s vital services, like their helpline for supporting independent living. Please visit the Disability Rights website for more details.

Users of wheelchairs and pushchairs can access radar gates because they are equipped with a radar key. These gates can open beyond their usual stopping point by using a radar key. Remember that some of the routes we’ve listed might have radar gates set up along the way. The route description or the attached map contain details about these gates.

Changing Locations:

The needs of people who need more support and space are specifically met by Changing Places restrooms. These restrooms have extra amenities to guarantee the comfort and safety of the users. They want to make it possible for everyone to use the restroom independently and with dignity, regardless of their need for help or specialized equipment, by offering this facility. Four of the parks on our list right now that provide a changing area are listed here:

We post a# Four WheelFriday route on our social media each week that is accessible on four wheels, and we share as much information as we can about the route to assist you in determining whether it is appropriate for you. Click here to learn more if you’d like to explore&nbsp, a variety of activities that are appropriate for wheelchairs.
