So thought I would treat you guys to another guess who to really test your animal knowledge. Time to meet the weird and wonderful creatures you may not have heard of. What am I?

Your only clue is they are not found here at the park!

Question 1

  • My mouth looks like a bill. In this bill I have special receptors that pick up on little electrical signals given off by prey.
  • My fur is thick and helps to repel water, keeping me warm when swimming. My very own dry suit.
  • Males of my kind have venomous spurs on their hind legs to help ward off predators.
  • I am a bottom feeder meaning I forage along the river floor shovelling it up in my bill. I don’t have any teeth. Instead I have a special grinding plate and any gravel I also scoop up helps me to grind my food. This may be invertebrates, shrimps, worms and tadpoles.
  • When I’m not eating I can usually be found in my burrow at the edge of the river.
  • I am mostly solitary but several may share the same area.
