Applications are now open for this year’s Dragon Boat Challenge taking place on the 26th May at Basin 2 at Chatham Maritime.

12 teams have already been secured so get your team together and book your space to be part of this great event!

Maximum of 20 crew in a team (includes 16 paddlers, a drummer and 3 reserves), so you can rotate paddlers for each race.  Due to the popularity of the event Medway Sunlight Rotary have set a maximum no. of teams to participate – a total of 32 teams.

Medway Sunlight Rotary only charge what it costs to run the event – £420 to enter a team (£21 a head for a team of 20) for a great fun day for all your team  members.  If you have a problem raising a team on your own why not ask your colleagues, friends and family and raise sponsorship for a worthwhile cause.

As it is a charity event each team is asked to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship, of which 50% can be nominated to a charity of their choice.

All money raised by the event goes to Rotary supported charities including three great local charities providing care and support in the local community:

Club Ausome is a Medway charity that supports children and young people with disabilities or additional needs and their families.

Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust funds the purchase of essential equipment for babies who need intensive care and providing support for visiting parents.

Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey& Sussex.  An independent charity providing helicopter emergency medical service performing life-saving emergency treatment  and swift transport to hospital.

Other opportunities:

Optional team fancy dress competition, corporate packages, and various advertising opportunities are available.
